Lenz Receives NMRA 2000 Distinguished Service AwardBernd Lenz received the NMRA Distinguished Service Award from the National Model Railroad Association. at its 2000 convention in San Jose. The formal presentation was on the USS Hornet during the convention dinner of over 1100 NMRA attendees.
The award was given in appreciation for Mr. Lenz's ingenuity in creating his DCC technology and his generosity in freely giving his DCC technology to the NMRA. Bernd Lenz gave the technology unencumbered with patents, so that the NMRA DCC Working Group could develop the DCC Standards and Recommended Practices. He was nominated by DCC operators, other DCC industry businesses and NMRA volunteers from around the country to show their appreciation.

July 24, 2000 Atlas
announces their new Atlas Master DCC
System and their new Dual Mode decoder. These Atlas products are manufactured by Lenz
Elektoniks to their specifications. The Atlas Master DCC System is a member of the XpressNet
family. All Atlas products will be NMRA

was joined by the crew from Foothill Models, Jerry Kitts and his son, Scott.
We operated
N-Scale, HO, Large-Scale and O-scale, and S-scale in the booth this year. Most
questions revolved around decoder features and our new features on version 3. Thank you to
the many Digital plus users who came by. We look forward to seeing more of you next year
in St. Louis.
On Thursday, the DCC Round table, was well attended by manufacturers, and the DCC Working group. The discussion was moderated by Ray DeBlick from Convention 2000 Chair.. Manufacturers on the panel included Zana Ireland from Digitrax, Matt Katzer from KAM Industries, Jim Scorse from NorthCoast Engineering, Don Wangrow and Karl Kobel from Wangrow Electronics, Steve Domingas from Soundtraxx, and Bernd Lenz from Lenz Elektoniks. NMRA working group was represented by Brian Barnt and Rutger Friberg.
