Set-02 Advanced Grade NMRA DCC System (discontinued)

Set 02 introduced a totally new concept for DCC operation.  Our goal was to provide an advanced feature rich DCC system, that is so intuitive to operate that it just feels comfortable and natural.

We include this information for our customers who still operate Set-02.  This system was introduced in 1999, and sold for about three years. The Set-90 is now the system that provides the rotary style throttle.

Set 02/4 included four components: an LH200 Knob Based Throttle, a  LV101 Power Station, an LE103XF or LE077XF  locomotive decoder and a complete user's manual.

Set 02/10 contained three components: an LH200 Knob Based Throttle, a  LV200 Power Station, and a complete user's manual. (Note:   In Europe this is sold as Set 03 and includes an LE230 decoder).
Please note that LV200 is now discontinued.

These advanced systems give you an excellent start in the world of digital command control for your model railroad. Further units can be connected to this system, for example, additional LH200's or LH100's (hand helds),  or the LI100 (computer interface), allowing for a fully integrated DCC layout.

The LH200 Knob Based Engineers Throttle  has a sensitive potentiometer, fast access up to 6 locomotive addresses, direct switching of five functions (F0-F4) with a shift key to access F5-F8, and a center-off toggle switch for direction control. The LH200 is tethered to the LV101 or LV200 and acts as the system's Command Station.  Up to five additional walk around throttles or other XpressNET based devices can be added to Set-02 system.

Keeping with the philosophy of protecting your hobby investment, our advanced Set-02 is fully expandable into our professional high end system. Thus, ensuring expandability for your model railroad empire. Set-02 can be found in leading hobby shops worldwide.

System design of DIGITAL plus Set-02

Architecture

DIGITAL plus is designed with a non-proprietary open architecture. Each device in this distributed architecture contains the intelligence necessary to provide support to the external device it is supporting. This distributed architecture provides exceptional performance and allows us to add new capabilities without impacting existing devices.

The heart of the DIGITAL plus communication architecture is the high speed XpressNET based on the worldwide RS485 standard. XpressNET provides the data exchange between input devices and the command station. XpressNET consists of a 4 wire twisted pair connection. XpressNET for Set-02 may be up to 100m. (330 feet) long and can support up to 6 simultaneous input devices. XpressNET is the highest performance communication network in the DCC industry, providing the modeler with exceptional growth possibilities.

The 2 wire Control bus connects the command station to as many power stations (boosters) that are needed to power the layout. All DIGITAL plus power stations and command stations follow the proposed NMRA Control Bus RP and all DIGITAL plus power stations are optically isolated to allow safe connection to all forms of layout wiring including common rail wiring.
